Man and Van or Full Removal Service? How to Choose
By Sokhov Transport & Removals · 20 October 2026 · 4 min read
Both services move your belongings from A to B, but they suit different jobs. Choosing the right one saves money and avoids a day that runs over time. Here's how to decide.
What a man and van is best for
- Flats, studios and small homes, student and shared-house moves.
- Single items or a few pieces of furniture, such as a sofa, wardrobe or appliance you've bought or sold.
- Moves where you're happy to pack your own boxes and prepare your furniture.
- Short-notice or flexible jobs where a smaller vehicle and team is enough.
When a full removal service makes sense
- Family homes with three or more bedrooms and a lot of furniture.
- Moves with heavy or awkward items and several floors, where extra pairs of hands make the job safer and quicker.
- Long-distance moves where everything needs to travel together on one day.
- When you want more help with dismantling, protecting and reassembling furniture.
Questions that help you decide
- How much are you moving? Count the large items (beds, wardrobes, sofas, appliances) and the number of boxes.
- How many floors are there at each address, and is there a lift?
- How far is the move, and can the van park close to the door?
- Will you pack everything yourself, or do you want help?
- Is the date fixed, or do you have some flexibility?
Getting a quote you can compare
Whichever service you choose, give every firm the same information so the quotes are comparable: both postcodes, the date, what's moving, floors and parking. Ask what's included, such as the number of people, protection for your furniture and dismantling. Make sure the quote is confirmed in writing before the day.
Not sure? Tell us what's moving
We offer both a man and van and a fuller removal service, with a one-man or two-man team depending on the job. Send us your postcodes, date and a rough list of what's moving, and we'll recommend the right option and give you a clear quote.
